STUDENTS WILL DESIGN THEIR OWN GAMES
The youth will create their computer games with the help of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Software Engineering Computer Games Option Program. The youth will discover how games are designed, programmed, and published for 10 weeks in “Hayalini Oyna” (Play Your Dream Game) titled project, prepared for 50 high school and university students. The free training will enable participants to learn about their dream games in details. The deadline for the program is November 12.
The participants will also attend the Global Game Jam, a worldwide event hosted by Izmir University of Economics every year where participants are asked to develop computer games. The training will be conducted by Prof. Dr. Yaşar Güneri Şahin, Head of IUE Department of Software Engineering, Lecturers Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Akcan, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Gazihan Alankuş, Asst. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Altuğ Işığan, Kaya Oğuz, and IUE Music Consultant Alaskar Abbasov.
Prof. Dr. Yaşar Güneri Şahin, who talked about the project said that they aimed to make the participants, who were individuals playing games only up until the training, understand how games are designed, programmed, published, and turned into a surplus value.X
‘Each Job Has Its Own Team’
Prof. Dr. Şahin stated that the project not only aimed for youth to play games but create social awareness about turning that into an economic benefit at the same time. Prof. Dr. Şahin stated the following:
“We aim for our participants to establish teams who can develop easy but high playability games. We also aim to establish teams who can succeed at world famous Global Game Jam that will be conducted in January 2015. The training, which will take place at IUE Computer Games Lab on 15 November, will cover creating game scenario, planning visual effects, arranging game music, drawing characters and animations, programming games on computer, testing games, publishing and distributing them.”
