Athletes of Izmir University of Economics came back with medals. While IUE Women’s Tennis Team won the championship cup, IUE Men’s Tennis Team came in second place at the 1st League Tennis Competitions Organized by University Sports Federation. And IUE Sailing Team came in third place in IRC2 category at the 7th Campus Cup Competition organized by Marmaris International Yacht Club (MIYC).
Actress Asuman Dabak asked students of Izmir University of Economics to find her a location in Izmir. She said, “Find me a location in Izmir so I can open an acting school in Izmir. There is one in London, why shouldn’t there be in Izmir?”
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) participated in Turkey Innovation Week organized by Turkish Exporters Assembly and Aegean Exporters' Associations. The students, with their 12 innovative projects which focus on finding practical solutions to many different daily problems, introduced their projects to the other participants. Ekrem Demirtaş, President of IUE Board of Trustees, and IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen visited the students at their booth and got information about the projects.
Students of IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Fashion and Textile Design, showcased their designs they got inspired by Oscar Wilde’s ‘The Nightingale and the Rose’ story, at the Exhibition Hall of Izmir Chamber of Commerce.
"Post Graduate Programs Collaboration Protocol" was signed between Ekrem Demirtaş, President of IUE Board of Trustees and Aydın Özcan, President of Izmir Bar Association. The protocol offers 25% discount for lawyers registered in Izmir Bar Association and their first degree relatives in master’s and Ph.D. education at IUE graduate schools. In the event of 20 or more lawyers applying for the same post graduate program, courses will take place at Izmir Bar Association.
The experts emphasize that as the time shortens for “Transition to Higher Education Examination” (YGS), the first step to become a university student, students need to stay calm and positive and control their excitements and worries. Clinical Psychologist Merve Yavuz, IUE Psychological Development and Counseling Centre Coordinator, who made recommendations to students who will take the exam on March 15, stated that students needed to stay away from negative and pointless thoughts, and that having self-confidence in their knowledge would bring success.
Iranian students will learn the basics of entrepreneurial and innovative education at Izmir University of Economics. A protocol was signed between Ali Akbar Sharifpour, Chairman of Iran Bushehr Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture, and Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen, IUE Rector to ensure 15% discount in annual tuition fees of Izmir University of Economics.
Beyza Güler, Junior Student of Faculty of Business, Izmir University of Economics, has been selected by the Entrepreneurship Foundation to popularise entrepreneurship culture among university students. Güler, who was able to pass the 5 stage program among 6 thousand 400 university students, has ranked among 40 people nationwide.
A protocol was signed between Ekrem Demirtaş, Chairman of Executive Board of Izmir Chamber of Commerce and President of IUE Board of Trustees, and Hakan Ülken, Chairman of Executive Board of Aydın Chamber of Commerce, to ensure Aydın youth is taking firm steps towards the future. First degree blood relatives of members of Aydın Chamber of Commerce and District Chambers of Commerce qualified for 15% discount in annual tuition fees of Izmir University of Economics at the ceremony that took place at 4th Promotion and Career Days of Aydın Higher Education Institutions. Along with President Demirtaş and Ülken, Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen, IUE Rector, attended the ceremony.
Kitchens are being turned into art studios. Kemal Demirasal, Graduate of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) and Enterprising Chef of Alancha Restaurant in Alaçatı, stated that chefs were no longer just cooking, and restaurant management became more interactive at the workshop where he met students of IUE Department of Culinary Arts and Management.
